Wicklow RFC Fashion Show

WRFC Gala Fashion night, held last Friday (11th) in the Grand Hotel, was a great success. There were 14 local fashion retailers taking part, with a further 11 local traders displaying their wares on tables around the room.

The first half of the show contained the initial 7 Shops, and also incorporated WRFC displaying our club gear.

During the interval, people were able to look at all the displays around the room, and purchase some nice Christmas Gifts. There was also a great raffle with some fantastic  prizes from local business.

The Second half commenced with the other 7 shops, which also included male and female clothing, shoes and jewellery. The children, female & male models (including some club members), did a great job showing off the clothes, shoes, and jewellery which was on display.
It was great to see so many people from both the club, and around the town supporting this event. The stage and the Grand Hotel room were beautifully decorated.

The models looked very professional and they all gave the crowd a great show.

The compere for the show was Eamonn O’Donovan (member and former captain of WRFC) who was great on the night.

Thanks to Eamonn, all the models, the girls helping to dress the models,(Suzanne Acres, Aoife Quinn and Laura O’Brien) the raffle tickets sellers, (Bert Nicholson and Jason Watson) the door collectors (Eddie Nolan and Larry Byrne.) and most of all a big thanks to all who supported the Event. The total funds raised on the night was in excess of €2,700.00

The biggest thanks of all go to Ann Morrissey who (as always) worked tirelessly on organising the whole event and without whose efforts, the night would not have ended up being such a great success.

Womens Rugby

The newly formed WRFC Womens Rugby team is now training every Wednesday night at 7pm. There are now 20 women training with Ciara McConnell and John Alvey.

The numbers are growing from week to week and are primarily made up of former WRFC girls players.

There are also a number of new players who have played rugby for other clubs and some who are completley new to the game. It is a fantastic way to get fit, make friends and be part of a team.

We are looking for more women to join this growing squad. We hope to arrange number of friendly games before Christmas and early in the New year, prior to the start of the Leinster Development Cup. If you know anyone who may be interested please spread the word. Anyone who is interested can contact Ciara McConnell 087 2358388.
