Welcome to the latest edition of the WRFC Newsletter ....
WRFC Touch Rugby (Friday nights from 7.15)
WRFC had a successful Touch Start-Up night on Friday, 06/01/2012. There was an excellent turnout for the first night with both local players and a few more experienced players from Dublin who came along to assist with the rules, tactics & drills
There were 4 ladies playing. 2 were experienced players from Dublin and 2 were from Rathdrum RFC….WRFC ladies we need you!!
The night started with a brief explanation of the basic rules and some simple Touch Techniques after which the players were split into 2 teams of 6 with 4 rolling subs each.
The game was played in 3 periods, with breaks to go through some more basics as the new players got more familiar with the game
The session went on to approximately 9pm, having started at 7:30
After Friday's game, Roelie received a number of further enquiries (those out there that gave him "injuries" as an excuse may have got over them by now!!)
Anyone interested please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . This will allow me to compile a mailing list for updates. The rules will be re-explained this Friday at 7:15pm and game starts at about 7:30pm.
Any new players try be there by 7:15. This will enable you to understand what's going on when we tap off at 7:30.
I would again like to thank the Wicklow RFC club and committee for helping get this up and running and for providing the pitch and lights.
